Description:
Megacal M is indicated in the treatment of hypocalcaemia complicated by deficiency of magnesium, in cattle. Each 100 ml contains 4.6 g Calcium and 0.8g Magnesium. Also contains 10% w/v Boric Acid Ph.Eur.
Standard Dosage:
The solution should be warmed to body temperature before administration. Intravenous injections should be given slowly and stopped on the first signs of adverse reaction. Rapid intravenous injection may result in cardiac arrhythmias and in severely toxaemic cows, collapse and death. Provided these precautions are observed Megacal M should be safe for use during pregnancy and lactation.
As a guide it is suggested that a dose of 100ml per 500 kg is given slowly intravenously, followed by 100ml per 500 kg subcutaneously.
